Harmonic Filter Resistor


Description:

Harmonics is the distortion of a voltage or current whose frequency is an integral multiple of the line frequency. Harmonic voltages and currents are undesirable and are created by nonlinear loads such as electric arcs, saturated magnetic circuits and whenever voltages and currents are periodically switched. The primary objective of a harmonic filter is to reduce the amplitude of one or more fixed frequency currents or voltages. The resistor within the harmonic filter system is used to stabilize the system and/or dampen the harmonic currents.
